Defender is Land Roverīs toughest, most capable vehicle. Making its debut in 1948, it was designed with brilliant simplicity for unrivalled strength and legendary ability. It is the product of controlled evolution and the principles that made it revolutionary almost sixty years ago endure. These principles have now been built upon with an all-new powertrain and a distinctive re-profiled bonnet for new 2007 Defender.

Strength
There are some things thatīll never need improving. The chassis is one of them. Immensely strong it is probably the single most important component in Defenderīs design architecture and contributes to the vehicleīs strength, versatility, durability and capability. The box section, ladder frame design is far stronger than an open channel design and more adaptable than the unibody designs of many of Defenderīs competitors. Equally, Defenderīs lightweight aluminium body is tough, with a no-nonsense, functional simplicity and a slab-sided profile that makes it all the more adaptable and enhances configurability.
